GMC has announced the Denali trim package for its 2011 Acadia. The Denali brand has been quite popular with other GMC models and an extension to the large Acadia crossover seemed quite natural.
"The GMC Denali models have come to stand for luxury and exclusivity, and that's just what customers will get in the new Acadia Denali," said Lisa Hutchinson, GMC product marketing director. "The decision to develop an Acadia Denali was made quickly within the new GM in response to customer and dealer demand for a Denali version ever since the launch and success of the Acadia."
The engine is a 3.6-litre V6 aluminium block with dual overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and variable valve timing. It produces 215kW (292hp) at 6,300rpm and maximum torque of 366Nm (270 lb-ft) at 3,400rpm. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic sending power either to the front or to all four wheels. Estimated EPA fuel consumption figures are 17mpg and 24mpg for city and highway respectively in the FWD model. The AWD is expected to deliver a combination of 16/ 23 mpg.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has just announced a safety recall affecting 69,590 model year 2011 Subaru Legacy and Outback vehicles. The recall concerns adhesive, or a possible lack thereof, used to affix moonroof glass to its retainer. This action covers 2011 Legacy and Outback models manufactured from August 3, 2010, through July 1, 2011.
NHTSA says an inadequate amount of adhesive on the moonroofs of affected models could allow the glass to loosen or even detach while the vehicle is in motion. This flying glass, says the agency, could become a road hazard and possibly even lead to a crash.

Minor styling updates distinguish the 2012 Saab 9-3 from last year's car; it also gets bumps in horsepower and gas mileage. Saab's entry-level sport sedan, the 9-3 competes with popular nameplates like the BMW 3 Series, Lexus IS and Audi A4. It comes in sedan, wagon and convertible variants with front-wheel drive. The sedan and wagon offer all-wheel drive.
New for 2012.
The 9-3 gains direct fuel injection for an extra 10 horsepower, and gas mileage improves by an estimated 4 percent. The exterior and interior have been updated, albeit slightly.

Acura TSX news. The 'beak' grille, as some were calling it, received an emphatic 'no' vote from Acura diehards. In response to this criticism, Acura redesigned its TSX's grille slightly, but it is still prevalent at the front of the car and as it blends into car's lines. Though still present, in an attempt to subdue the uprising, Acura's new grille would appear to go too much in the other direction—blasé.

Compared with the 2010 model, the lines of the TSX have remained relatively unchanged. The bodywork and surrounds around the foglights have been redesigned for the 2011 model. Comparing the 2011 TSX model with the redesigned 2010 model, the car features only subtle changes in appearance, including a single strip of chrome trim that runs between the two taillights.
The majority of the refinements for the 2011 TSX come inside the car's interior and under the hood. Though seemingly familiar, the 2011 model boasts a number of visual changes throughout its interior. Such changes and refinements include an optional interior and steering wheel trim package, as well as, a number of other sporty and functional options.
The 2011 model comes with either a 201 hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, or, a 3.5-liter V6 engine. In either case, the engines can be mated to either a five-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.

Recently, we reported that Volvo was considering trimming its model line here in the United States, and according to Kicking Tires, it appears that the S40 sedan and V50 wagon are the first two models to get the axe. Both vehicles are relatively old – the current S40 debuted in 2004, the V50 arrived one year later – and with no updates planned, we sort of saw this coming.

Volvo confirms all-new XC90 for U.S.Volvo has confirmed that the U.S. market is primed to receive a redesigned XC90. Automotive News had the chance to sit down with Doug Speck, CEO of Volvo Cars of North America, and suss out the automaker's plans for the future. While pushing for increased sales of the new S60 is part of Volvo's short-term strategy, bringing in a replacement for its aging XC90 is certainly a key component to the marque's long-term success.

Volvo C30 Electric.

Has Volvo lost its marbles? It certainly seems so, as the Swedish automaker is considering an insanely high $2,300 per month lease for the new C30 Electric.
Speaking at a launch event in Indianapolis, Indiana, the president of Volvo Car Special Vehicles, Lennart Stegland, stated that the final price of the C30 has not yet been determined, but that Volvo will not sell the EV, but lease it out instead. The lease price for the C30 was set at 1,500 euros per month.
Using our math skills, that price comes to around $2,129.85 per month, so if one decides to lease the new C30 for three months, the total price will be around $76,674. What’s even more shocking about the situation is that Stegland stated that even at that high price, Volvo would not make any money on each vehicle leased out.
Those that are complaining about the price of the current flock of electric vehicles will certainly have something to say about this model. The electric C30 will be here by 2012.

Volvo built its image in the United States on safety--and big, boxy station wagons. But the Swedish automaker plans to stop importing the only wagon it sells in this country, the V50. American consumers have migrated from wagons to crossovers, said Doug Speck, CEO of Volvo Cars of North America. He did not give a timetable for discontinuing the V50.Volvo stopped importing the larger V70 station wagon at the end of the 2010 model year and said it would not import the V60 wagon that debuted in Europe last year. "Over the last decade the traditional station wagon segment has been on a decline," Speck said. "Through that period the crossover segment has grown exponentially. The reality is the crossovers of today are the wagons of yesteryear." Volvo sold only 1,720 V50s last year, down from a peak of 5,486 in 2005. Volvo will continue to offer the XC70, which looks like a station wagon but rides higher. But Speck said the XC70 will be marketed as a crossover. Last year, Volvo sold 3,951 XC70s. "We are much more focused on succeeding with the XC range," Speck said. "The V50 decision is consistent with that strategy."

Since 2011 the new V50 is a 4-door, 5-passenger wagon with increases in size appearing most notably in the width, 79,6 inches (10 inches wider). Available in two trims, the T5 and the T5 R-Design, the Volvo V50 comes with 2.5-liter, I5, 227-horsepower, turbo engine. A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard. Unique premium leather seating surfaces are new to Volvo V50 (available in the R-Design version). It also includes unique floormats, aluminum accents, steering wheel, upholstery and gauges. The Volvo V50 T5 version includes a High Performance Sound System with HD radio, Bluetooth, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. As for safety features, the new V50 boasts Dynamic Stability Traction Control, all-disc anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, side-impact and side curtain airbags.
